On this trip we went up into the White Mountains to see the oldest trees on
earth, some nearly 5000
year old! The Great Basin Bristlecone Pine lives between 9,500 and 11,000 feet
in various areas
in the west, with the oldest here in the White Mountains. They are wonderful.
Plus there was a four mile
hike from 11,000 feet to 12,000 feet so my friend John and I could test our
lungs for an upcoming
backpacking trip in the Sierras and a trip to the Cottonwood Creek area! We
camped in
a campground for a change, Grandview and it all went well.
